Tothamhill Stud was founded by Andy and Sarah Bircher in 2000. However it was long before this that their love of the Welsh Cob emerged.
In 1989 Andy bought a Pony out of the Oct Cob Sales, having recently lost his pair of Hafflingers, this pony was Brynargoed Welsh Model by Ebbw Victor who, as you may or may not know, was one of the prolific stallions of that time. Adel, as she was to be known, was the perfect all rounder. She drove, she jumped, she showed, all successfully. She had character in abundance yet was as gently as a kitten. What more could you want in a pony for the whole family?

Having previously dabbled in the horse drawn wedding trade with the Hafflingers, and as a result already got all the gear, Andy and Sarah set out to look for a pair for Adel. In the most unlikely place, a little yard in the heart of Shephards Bush, they found Kenmarg Bay Mistress aka Ella.

It didn't take long for the annual Holidays to head to Wales for the Royal Welsh Show and the October Cob Sales. Over the years a number of ponies were bought from the Sales. A couple of sec C's for the kids, a youngster here and there to bring on. Until finally in 2000 they purchased Danaway Sharna, scanned in Foal to Mabnesscliffe Survivor and so, Tothamhill Stud was born.............
